The chess world cup 2019 will be this time held in Russia from September 9, 2019 to October 4, 2019. The Chess world cup is a single-elimination chess tournament in which 128-players play. The two tournament finalists will be qualified for the candidates tournament, which determines the opponent against Magnus Carlsen for the World Chess Championship, that will be held in 2020.
World Chess Championship 2020 is the chess match between the Candidates tournament winner against the reigning world champion. The reigning world champion is Magnus Carlsen. The World Chess Championship 2020 is a 14 match chess tournament. The best-of-14 match performance will be assessed to determine the World Chess Champion.
Chess World Cup matches will have 7-round knock-out type matches. Of the seven rounds, the first six will have two classical games except in the finals and in the match to determine the second runner-up. The finals and second runner-up determining match will have four classical games instead of two.
