Independence Day Speech 2022: Being independent is the basic right of every human being. In the fight for this right, many brave sons of India have sacrificed their lives, only then we are breathing in an independent India.

15 August 1947. This was the date when India became independent by breaking the shackles of independence. The people of India were breathing free air. It was confirmed that now the people of India will be their own ‘destiny creator’ and not the British Empire. It was the result of the sacrifice of countless sons, horrific torture, and decades of struggle that India got independence. India is celebrating 75th Independence Day today but the story of achieving this freedom is not so easy.
Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, gave a speech on the midnight of 14 August 1947 that now India has become independent. His speech is known as ‘Tryst with Destiny’.
What did the first Prime Minister of the country say at the beginning of Independence?
Jawaharlal Nehru said in his first speech, ‘Today we are ending an era of misfortune and India is finding itself again. The achievement we are celebrating today is just one step towards the opening of new opportunities. Even bigger victories and achievements await us.
Today there are countless achievements in the name of the country. The country is one of the biggest superpowers of the world. There is hardly any country that has the courage to confront India directly, but India has paid a big price for it.
India has got victory through struggles
The journey of freedom is very long. Since 1600, there have been attempts to fight slavery separately, but the voice of India as a whole rose only after the mutiny of 1857. This bugle of freedom was blown by Shaheed Mangal Pandey.
Mangal Pandey’s role was the most special in the war of 1857. Mangal Pandey was not allowed to use fat cartridges. He flatly denied that it was not acceptable. The rifles that the British gave to Indian soldiers, the cartridges used in them were used to contain the fat of pigs and cows. These cartridges had to be pulled out of the mouth, for which the soldiers were not ready. Indians called the use of these cartridges an insult to religious sentiments and started opposing it.
Mangal Pandey had ignited the spark of revolution
On March 25, 1857, Mangal Pandey revolted against the British officers in Barrackpore Cantonment with these cartridges, after which 85 soldiers of the Third Infantry also rebelled in Meerut. The British were so cruel that they used to hang punishment for every rebellion. He was hanged on 8 April 1857.
After the mutiny, there was an infinite series of executions. Neither the rebellion was reduced nor the hanging of the British was less. Fighting for freedom is being fought from all sides. While the revolutionaries of the hot party were fighting a violent battle, the politicians of the soft party were fighting an intellectual battle. On one side there was Mahatma Gandhi, on the other side, there were revolutionaries like Chandra Shekhar Azad, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaq Ullah Khan and Bhagat Singh. The British were facing continuous resistance one after the other.
Freedom is the result of countless sacrifices
The flame of freedom was so dangerous that even after the continuous hanging of the revolutionaries, the flame of revolution did not dim. Had one martyr, the other martyr would have been sacrificing his life.
The British were not deterred from their cruelty. Who can forget the horrific incident of 13 April 1919? The Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place at the behest of Brigadier General Reginald Dyer. Thousands of innocent civilians were shot. The same number of people were killed.
This was the same incident due to which revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh came to the fore. The Delhi Assembly bombings of 1929, the non-cooperation movement that started on August 1, 1920, the Chauri-Chaura incident of 1922, and the Quit India movement of 1942 were all such incidents, which led to independence.
In the foundation of the independence achieved on 15 August 1947, there is the sacrifice of innumerable freedom fighters. Today the country is facing all-round challenges. From Jammu and Kashmir to the Ladakh border, there are dangerous countries like China and Pakistan everywhere. Challenges are not less in Galvan Valley, but these countries are not even thinking of moving forward in front of India’s strength.
The challenge was to get freedom but the real freedom is to maintain the independence of India. To improve India’s democracy and to provide a healthy democratic environment. We should be more grateful to the immortal freedom fighters on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day.
